The Covey is a LRGC collaborative habitat restoration project with financial support and oversight from the GCA Civic Improvement Committee. LRGC currently partners with ACCESS Life, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, Audubon Delta, Central Arkansas Water, The Nature Conservancy and Quail Forever to restore designated sites to their native prairie habitat and benefit Northern Bobwhite Quail, Monarch butterflies and pollinators, as well as other indigenous wildlife species.

In 2018, LRGC received Partners for Plants (P4P) funding through GCA to restore a 12-acre open field site in the watershed of Lake Maumelle. In addition to restoring the native habitat and bolstering indigenous wildlife species, this restoration effort also ensures protection of our state’s water quality by enhancing filtration of the landscape. In 2022, LRGC received Common Ground Collaborative (CGC) funding through GCA to restore an 8-acre oak savannah in Gillam Park on the grounds of Audubon Delta.  This restoration project, which received additional funding from GCA in 2023, has the added benefit of enhancing the center's scenic ADA accessible wildlife observation trail overlooking downtown Little Rock.  In 2024, LRGC received more CGC funding through GCA to continue the previous year's work with additional plug propagation and planting opportunities that will enhance the grassland restoration.

Through The Covey, LRGC members engage with young adult volunteers from ACCESS Life and routinely convene with expert botanists and biologists to gather, clean, and plant seeds used in habitat restoration.  The Covey has received multiple awards from the Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs.
